Rain and Reefs

I'm sorry to report that the past two days didn't play out as we had hoped.   In 11 years of running this program, it only sprinkled on us for 20 minutes around eight years ago.  This year is different.  It  has rained continuously since we left Phuket, including during and after the ferry ride, and while we were going out for our dive.   It's still raining now and sometimes sideways.  The first difficulty is that our bags got pretty wet, so we don't have many dry clothes.  Second, the conditions for diving yesterday were poor at best.  The seas were pretty rough and it was quite difficult to get back onto the dive boat after the dive.  A few students and Ajarn Wayne had bad experiences during that dive.  Having said that, most of the rest of us enjoyed a nice dive and the students were able to gain valuable experience.  But the diving has stopped until we have better conditions. One of the casualties of the rain is that my laptop must've gotten wet to the point where it is no longer functioning. So, there may not be any more blog posts if I can't get the laptop to work again. This message is coming from my tablet, so all I can do is post text without photos.  --- Ajarn Bob

  3. You cannot predict mother nature. The trip has been amazing so far and according to the weather channel you should still have several nice days there. Thank you for finding a way to communicate with us. Janet Daubendiek (Sarah's mom)

  4. Thanks for the update. Hope your laptop dries out ands recovers. Also hope the weather clears up enough for the kids to get some dives in. At least there's still a few days left on the island. I've had prayers going!
